Dream Vacation

This morning my feet fell asleep, again
My feet will be awake, all night.
I have grown weary of being told of my evening's exploits
unsure of what is real, rumor, or dream life.

Night walk through Memphis to look for Elvis
somewhere outside of this disgraced land.
Run with scissors through someone else's dream
or kick up a rug and choose to dance in the dark.

Do not forgive my feet, I know not what they do.
My feet carry me, sound asleep, through another life.

Now, my idle insomnia  hands join in and decide
to ride multi-color wind horses and weave offerings.
My prayer ties are bound to passing willow branches.
An unconscious revolution needs an anthem, a song of snoring.

Tomorrow, I will wonder why I am so tired and achy.
Do not let your feet fall asleep during the day and dream.
You might wake up in jail or lie, worn out in worse places.
You will end up on the wrong side of the night and the mischief.
