A Passing Thought

Upon my parting day on earth,
among the living souls,
I hope to cross that final bridge
With consummated goals.

I've lived some dreams beyond my hopes,
but missed some by a mile,
yet, memories, incomparable
have made this ride worthwhile.

I've savored ups, I've weathered downs,
and learned along the way;
devoted to my loving wife,
I never went astray.

I've come to terms with mysteries
that loom when I pass on;
the questions of a lifetime
will be answered, once I'm gone.
