When It Rains

The “bad with the good”
has been deemed “bitter-sweet”
when referring to victories
ensued by defeat.

Some clouds come with linings
and tunnels with light,
giving hope in what's wrong
a new chance to go right.

Those pathways are sought
as the roads to success,
but can take a detour
along roads that digress.

In choosing a road,
players stand for a fall,
where a tactless jibe utters:
“You can't win 'em all!”

Many fates come in “threes”,
as their victims avowed,
such as “three on a match”,
or “three is a crowd”.

Such phrases were coined
to describe our worst days;
when we're deep in despair,
we turn into cliche's!
