Don't look back
In our corner, across the way, lamp light
fills a second-floor window, shines down on
wet leaves of bushes below, having rained.
But both of us cannot sleep again, at 2am.
Hoping storms return to soothe with
rain patter on grass and side walk.
New storms pass, leave tears trapped
in the webbing of screen windows.
We need to turn out our lights and just forget.
Close the door, the windows and try to sleep.
Turn the page in the darkness.
