I could remember those day, when we were so happy
Because of those moments play and having fun with a puppy
Running and jumping around as we gambol together
It was free to move in the backyard no tether
In those days too, most of the homes
Had lots of space so it could freely roam
Even though there was love that was so readily shown
Going into the house was certainly not condone
There no feeding give any fancy dog chow
It was certainly not as popular as it is now
But they would eat the food with such zeal
Those bones and left overs from the day's meal
Also too there was no cost to incur
So healthy no need to knock on the veterinarian's door
I would hear some people say when they eat the grass
That it give protection so immunity comes fast
Now today as one walk on the sidewalk or street
There are many passing the owners have each on a leash
This can induce such an uncomfortable situation
Because there are some that show signs of aggression
These and others that heightens that level of concern
It is the breed of dogs one can encounter in the early morn
Those like Pitbull, and those that attack with little warning
Yes we can enjoy the early hour, but give the some muzzling
The rapidly declining land space has been a changer
Now many are confined to the house with their owner
And so may develop such a territorial possession
So when paying a visit around the owner, take caution
Yes it is good to see progress and development
But this too in some case have cause some confinement
Now very few can watch their children and pets play
I felt sad to see a child looking at a dog the virtual way
