Seven Years

Hello Momma, wanted to say hello
With hope that you are doing okay,
I think of you daily, and always with love,
For I know your smile shines down from above.

Seven years have now past, yet the ache still remains
I now think it never will leave,
You gave me so much, every day of my life,
In fact, my very life you gave to me.

You taught me to walk, you encouraged me to talk,
And you ensured me to stand when I fell,
The iron will that was so instilled in you,
Was passed to me to see things through.

A child is only as strong as the parent who bore them,
And your stellar strength has never diminished,
I can never express my gratitude enough,
Nor the immense thanks that I always will owe you.

~ Today, September 18, 2022, marks the seventh year since
my mother passed away. As I state in this poem, it never gets
easier to accept what cannot be changed. If I could, I would,
but that is not possible. So, I remember better days, happy
times, and her strong, incredible presence that is forever
within me. I love you, Momma. ~
