The Hatchling

Just after the near miss by the hurricanes
It was time to that sight just for observation
There was drying of the leaves, trees and shrubbery
As they were impacted by the water of the sea

The wind force cause the water to breach that shore line
And came across the land for some time
This cause some degree of beach erosion
And of course carry along objects in the tidal motion

That morning on my way I encounter a turtle hatchling
It came up so suddenly it was a bit startling
So lost and moving around in such confusion
I had to do something to help it in this situation

Perhaps it heard the water or could smell the salty sea
But to reach it, to that was something of a mystery
So it hurried from one side to the next
Perhaps it sense my presence and was even more purplex

Now out of its habitat, there was little comfort
And I knew I had to offer it some support
So I touch the shell and it was that dense, such a blessing
Because I could hold it with little fear of crushing

Holding it across the back so gently yet carefully
On the way I show to a child and he was so happy
Going through the beach access, placed it in the water so gently
Back in a familiar environment, it waved a flipper at me and swam away happily.
