 A New Woman

Written at 18 years old

You think you seen anything at all
I saw a flash of bright yellowish light
My intuition knew
Yet standing before my eyes
Was a tall flame ready to wreak havoc
Had me and my sibling not taken action
Calling the fire station at 11 pm
To put out the tall flames
Yet that tree just stood there tall and mighty
Taking every burn
Not complaining
Yet I knew it was hurt and crippled
Only it was still strong and standing tall
