Yes Progress
How many times we sit and proudly profess
That that life is better due to the power of progress
There are instances that there were some benefits
But also the converse it true, there were regrets
There were times when our fore parents had to endure
The damage done by those chronic illnesses, that was for sure
Now with that intervention by modern medicine and health education
Those who listen take advice, can have a better standard of living
As many looked as those who live some time ago
How broken they looked after sixty years or more
Now today we can see people now getting closer to eighty
Are moving around in such spirits and very sprightly
We all know how diseases will bring along lots of challenges
There was AIDS and COVID, still over time were managed
But this nemesis seems still to be an eternal danger
And there are few of us, who have not lost someone to cancer
There has been such great strides in transportation
Even shrunk the world by improved telecommunications
But the interfacing, and adaptation and modifications
Yes helpful, have also added to the growing problems
We have to notice its great and disturbing impact
That it is having on what use to be the family unit
As on can see the emphasis that is placed on e-attention
That they are all quite oblivious to the other person's
Now this have been spreading to the children
Who are so addicted that they are not now playing
Then the results by become so visible , over time
That protruding abdomen,and a general spread in that waistline
And as we see land now being remove from agriculture production
Then our foods and other produce have some scientific intervention
Needless burning, food preparation and in home chemical to give such sweet sensation
Can all produce gases in a generous proportion, so pay son attention.
So when they move into the ever available atmosphere
Adding to the others that are already there
Such intense heat and those troubling weather systems
Can we say progress brings some perils, that needs urgent attention.
