You were a busy side of my city
People from all walks of life flocking to bargain hunt
Down to the sheaf Market
Until Castle took the revolution
There was a 99p store and a quick silver
Even a women's only gym
Until it was taken over by the Forge
Do you remember as a child how the big clock chimed
By the castle market and that big old analogue clock would glow up in the dark
Until the digital world took over and now you can hardly tell the time
Let's not forget how all the buses met by the old town Hall
Now it's just a rotting empty building
Just like our old Market that's now on the Moor
Our castle Market was once a huge castle
We'd go for a swim, dry off and go to the Market and catch the 53 back home
Remember the 47 and 48
Yes don't forget 76 was lowedges
Or as my friend pronounced it lozenges
We would tease her and say let's get you lozenges for 76p
The buses met and went passed Hughs to the high street
It's stripped of good times
As I recall walking down a ghostly pandemic
I remember as a young teen the 76 went right up to the peace Gardens
Passed calender studios and showroom
We have so little memories left
Even our Debenhams is gone
Boys choose an alley and chill
We lost special memories
Those alleys and subways still stand
Most of our memories are gone forever
