I am writing these things to you,
That you are not tempted by sin;
An understanding that is true,
Avoiding corruption within.
But if someone who would transgress,
The Father gave an advocate;
A counsel who acquits to bless,
For Christ Jesus will mediate.
He is the propitiation,
Not just our sin but for all;
Penance shows appreciation,
By saving us from our fall.
And by this we will also know,
Knowing Him to keep His commandments;
To the Father that we will show,
In having righteous commitments.
Those who do not keep His precept,
Does not know Him and a liar;
They cannot righteously accept,
The truth on eternal fire.
But whoever will keep His Word,
Has in him the true love of God;
And has perfected what is heard,
Showing Him to honor and laud.
Whoever says He abides in Him,
Ought to be walking the same way;
Joy will keep him from feeling grim,
And to avoid going astray.
