Leaving the Stage
Yes it can be very hard to bring the curtains down
As there can be reluctance when it's time to move along
In that period would have touched the lives of so many persons
And on other left a lasting and deep impression
Over those years exhausted such a degree of proficiency
Many were overwhelmed by that visible level of mastery
As there was that drive to keep knowledge to level so up to date
So that new technology could not put you in a defeated state
To those many who respected you as a mentor
Always illuminating the path for them to follow
This certainly ensured that there is a continuum
Because you know that, that occasion shall come
There will be no hesitation to passing that baton
Recognising that your leg of the race is already done
Confident that those who may have to complete the course
Will stride to the end with such determination and purpose
Be willing to when required for any consultation
As a veteran you shall be needed for your wisdom
Knowing full will that your advice can cheer and steer
Also providing the relevant corrections to effect some repair
And as you go off to a period of well deserved relaxation
Leave with the heart overflowing with lots of gratification
Knowing full well that you have made such a difference
And too the departure is on in which there is a clear conscience
There as you stand in the garden thinking and reminiscing
All around you the beautiful aromatic roses are blooming
What a joy it would be to there in the arms of nature
What a better time and place to make plans for the future
