Put away malice and deceit, All slander and hypocrisy; Tantrums to cause stomping of feet, All guile that brings on envy. Like a newborn that desire, Longing for pure spiritual milk; For salvation you require, That goes down smooth that feel like silk. If indeed that you have tasted, How gracious that the Lord is good; You know your life is not wasted, By doing the ways that He would. As you come to the living stone, Unto God chosen and precious; That many men do not condone, Because they are thinking malice. You, yourselves like a living stone, For building a spiritual house; A holy priesthood but not alone, When God gave a spiritual spouse. For it is contained in the Word, Zion a stone being laid down; Watching His sheep like a shepherd, The cornerstone is wearing a crown. The honor is who does believe, Not the builders who have rejected; For salvation will not receive, The sight of Satan reflected. They stumble being an offense, Stumbling because they disobey; For they will feel wrath so intense, Rejecting the stone made them stray. Copyright ©2022 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
