God is our refuge and strength, Very present help in trouble; Persevering at any length, Pulling us out of the rubble. We fear not though the earth gives way, Nor mountains move into the sea; Waters roar and foam as waves stray, Trembling mountains at the decree. A river whose streams make God glad, Holy dwellings of the Most High; He is in the midst as she had, Helping her as the dawn does cry. The nations rage as they totter, When hearing His voice, the earth thaws; His command that He does utter, In declaring those who have flaws. The Lord of Hosts will be with us, The God of Jacob a fortress; Our refuge to shield as thus, From the anguish when in distress. Come behold the works of the Lord, What desolations on the earth; Because the heathens have ignored, For the glory of its true worth. He will make all the wars to cease, Breaks the bow and shatters the spear; Chariots burn for making peace, As everyone bows to revere. Be still and know that He is God, Who will be exalted on the earth; That all nations honor and laud, As He gives this place a new birth. Copyright ©2022 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
