That smile

Around this time there can be moments for reflection
Recalling those days as a child having to say a recitation
Mainly those times at the school Christmas programme
And believe into that little area lots of people were cram

As a child looking down at the size of of such an audience
Those many stomach butterflies made their presence
Know full well that some of the people came to criticize and jeer
And any one make a slip up, would be taunted weeks after they left there

That moment when I mounted the school's platform
A bit nervous as lots of doubts suddenly become born
I kept looking into the crowd hoping to find that friendly face
After looking to this so much, could not bear the disgrace

As the others said their lines, and it was soon time
For me to raise a sign, as I said mine
Looking into the crowd, the look on some faces brough terror
Then I looked around more and saw a face with a smile so tender

Now my spirit got lifted, an new energy got injected
This performance on their on their minds shall be firmly cemented
There is no doubt that there is such a supportive power
That can be found in none other than a mother
