Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness; Give relief from my fall, For I was in distress. Be gracious, hear my prayer, How long will I feel shame; Vain words and lies I share, I want not to defame. I know You set apart, And have heard when I call; Asking to cleanse my heart, Helping me to stand tall. Stand in awe and sin not, Muse my heart to be still; Give me a humbling thought, The strength to climb Your hill. I put my trust in You, Giving sacrifices; Righteousness that is true, Earth no more entices. Who will show me some good? Lift the light of Your face; And teaching what we should, To do for Your embrace. You put joy in my heart, More than the grain and wine; Showing me a new start, So my thoughts realign. In peace, I go to sleep, In safety I will dwell; In mind and heart, You keep, Safely away from hell. Copyright ©2022 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
