As you always have obeyed, Not only in my presence; The sacrifice has been paid, For the time in my absence. Work out your own salvation, With all your trembling and fear; To be a new creation, Remembering to revere. It is God who works in you, To work for His good pleasure; And always remaining true, Because you are His treasure. Do all things without mumbling, That you will remain blameless; Innocent and not grumbling, Always calm and without stress. A twisted generation, The perverse nation unfurled; Watch not their abomination, But shine your light in the world. Hold fast to the Word of life, So that in the day of Christ; You will not labor in strife, But in Jesus be enticed. Even if I am offered, To be poured out as a drink; I shall not be a coward, Only in Christ will I think. My joy in the faith I serve, I am glad and will rejoice; In confidence has the nerve, Happy to make it my choice. Copyright ©2022 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
