Selected Poems

Time for one poem

Right now, it's me against the laws of nature trying to force
my will against this air, when I try to explain to you, why
and how and go solo, wearing a broken heart on torn sleeves.

We have a short period of time, ticking away, when
I can decorate this empty space, between you and I.
Sculpt this air and hammer away, chip with words.

We have one slim chance to make sense of the sounds.
When truth fights lies and heresy is filled with fixed fact.
What is left, we bend and twist into a 2 minute homily.

I love you, always finding you, alone, among the darkest of places.
We dance through shade of tall buildings, alleyways and stairwells.
We whisper secrets, between night and shadows of dimly lit rooms.

Finally, we reach out for each other, close enough to embrace
feel the heat of our bodies, tickled by perfume of bourbon and roses.
Understanding. Our time is up! Did you feel that? Poetry! I thought so, too.
