Mask.

I have to wear a mask anywhere I go.
I put on one for work.
I put on one for my daughter.
I put on one for everyone to see.
I used to be able to take it off for you and it was ok.
Now I feel like I have to wear it all the time.
The darkness is my companion now.
There is a loud silence there.
It doesn't judge me.
It doesn't hurt me.
It just wraps itself around me
attempting to comfort a heart that was once whole
Attempting to warm a body that's now cold.
Untouched.
Useless.
Damaged.
Damned.
Broken.
