I can do nothing on my own,
My judgment in guessing to hear;
Rather than Jesus on His throne,
Thinking that I must be sincere.
If I alone would bear witness,
My testimony is not true;
When lacking spiritual fitness,
That another may not construe.
Another bears witness to me,
I know that the testimony;
Remains as true as it can be,
Not considered to be phony.
I have borne witness to the truth,
Not a testimony from man;
But knowing Jesus since my youth,
It comes from God within His plan.
I say these things that you be saved,
Testimony that I received;
No longer that I am enslaved,
To the sin that I once believed.
John was a burning shining light,
And you were willing to rejoice;
To God a blessing in His sight,
As John proclaimed in a loud voice.
But a greater witness have I,
Works that the Father gave to me;
The very work I do is why,
Bears witness with insight to see.
