Optimist

I never had much money
But we managed to cope
All you need is optimism
And to never lose hope.
It just seemed to me
We never could learn
It wasn't good to spend
More than I could earn.
We staggered along
Just ahead of the banks
But I had love and health
And for that I gave thanks.
We had our up and downs
But I could always say
In spite of  that I welcomed
Every single new day.
Money didn't really matter
So long as we had hope.
With health and happiness,
A body could easily cope.
