Darkness
Darkness ever weaving its tapestry of night,
Behind its curtain, concealing from sight;
Unknown mysteries, unglimpsed threat,
Blurred images, creatures never met.
As setting sun dips below horizon's knife edge,
Shadows bleed out, free from light's hedge.
Oozing o'er the land, seeping into the living,
Twisting their inner spirit, taking never giving.
Gibbous moon dimly, softly shimmering,
Gazing down on mortals, dark eyes glimmering.
The age of man draws swiftly to a bloody close,
As ever closer creep i's twilight veiled foes.
Hark! List to the rustle of yon leathery wing;
Canst not hear banshee begin to warble and sing?
Darkness dwells now within man's very heart and soul;
He lacks the means to extract, or e'en pay its noisome toll.
Behind its curtain, concealing from sight;
Hark! List to the rustle of yon leathery wing;
Canst not hear banshee begin to warble and sing?
Darkness dwells now within man's very heart and soul;
He lacks the means to extract, or e'en pay its noisome toll.
