Poetic Verses

Crystal Room

In this crystal room
where I reside,
there is nowhere
that I can hide

To keep pain from
my fragile heart
to keep gossamer wings
from tearing apart

and in my day,
as the world looks in,
I want to frown
yet choose to grin

so never will they
really know
of yesterdays
or long ago

But in the dark place
my mind does dwell
on stagnant dreams
and living hell

Only I know
what they cannot;
and lay to rest dreams
on forget-me-nots

The sun, on angel's breath,
peeks in
to light the fire
of life within

Brief moments of
colored light I see
prisms of rainbows
reflect on me

I revel in that
heavenly light
I hunger for it
day and night

Sun reflects on
my faceted soul
for what purpose
for what goal

Unworthy am I
to receive such light
unto my heart
wrapped up so tight

And kept so fragile
like a shell
from existing in
a sort of hell

Where darkness lurks
inside my brain
remembering years
of undue pain

Will ever the bearer
of sunlight know
how the intensity of it
made my heart grow

Only in dreams,
I have laid to rest,
for I cannot bear
yet one more test

Of time and strength
and trust profound
and all life's pleasures
that will astound

If, perchance
truth I reveal
I may once again hurt
and refuse to heal

In this crystal room,
where I reside,
there is nowhere
that I can hide

To keep pain from
my fragile heart
to keep gossamer wings
from tearing apart
