The Memories

The Memories

My young child so innocent and sweet,
I fear our memories are at final defeat.
The good times the bad times will soon be lost forever,
And I fear our treasured bond will be remembered never.
All our talks, giggles, and lies,
You must hold on to and only forget good-byes.
For I hold your memory close to my heart,
And there you will see has the biggest part.
For every time I think of you, I cry or smile,
Or I lie there in pain for just a little while.
But the memories you can't remember are the little ones most lost,
And the little memories are at the highest cost.
When you grow older you will understand,
That your happiness rests in only my hand.
For now your future lies in hope,
Your accomplishments are how I cope.
Close your eyes and I'll be by you,
Hold out your hand, and I'll reach out too.
For I love you so very much,
Your face I wish I could always touch.
So close, but so far away,
But in my heart you will always stay.
The memory you will never forget,
Is the promise I made the minute we met.
The keep you safe and protect you from tears,
That's why were apart for many years,
So treasure our talks and many little cries,
Hold on to them always and only forget good-byes.
