Self Portrait
I see myself in black and white;
no color left there in sight
Like an old photograph that's one dimensional;
I see myself as quite forgettable
A fading image to press in a book
to remember only if you venture a look
No memories tender no memories sweet;
just a vagueness incomplete
No broken hearts to leave behind
in fact no hearts of any kind
for color and depth hearts require
not mere meekness when it comes to desire
10/30/00
no color left there in sight
Like an old photograph that's one dimensional;
I see myself as quite forgettable
A fading image to press in a book
to remember only if you venture a look
No memories tender no memories sweet;
just a vagueness incomplete
No broken hearts to leave behind
in fact no hearts of any kind
for color and depth hearts require
not mere meekness when it comes to desire
10/30/00
