Musings by The Poet Loriet
Riding The Oxymoron Roller Coaster
You say "I love you"
and then tell me you don't.
(Watch out for the first drop,
it's a doozy).
You tell me how much you want me,
then say, "Don't touch me.
I don't want this to be physical.
(Do you feel the butterflies
in your stomach too?)
Concerning other men,
you tell me you want to be
my one and only, so I
tell them goodbye and
you say, "Don't burn your bridges."
This is one helluva wild ride,
and it's making me ill.
You should have warned me
not to eat first and that
I needed to have a strong heart.
Next time,
I'm sticking to the Tunnel of Love.
It's more my speed.
