Without Me. Nothing..Oh my children, how you all clambered into adult-hood With grazed knees, broken dollies, wrecked matchbox cars First words, gap-toothed smiles, facts of life, first friends. First girlfriends, first love, long talks, loving me, hating me. Loving me. Going to work, getting married, knowing nothing Knowing everything, testing your strength, finding your weakness. Learning about life, living with me, for me, leaving me behind. Discovering yourselves sometimes at my expense, letting you go. Holding back the tears I watch you go on without me as you should. From out of me you came away from me you must go - I understand. I want you all to be independent but do not forget you are all a part Of me as I am a part of you, a part of me has gone with you all. I pray that the growing up has been easier for you than growing older Is for me good luck good health good life good loving to all of you. Grow old my children, let this world know that you are there. My blood, my mark upon the world, stemming back in time, going forward With your children and your children's` children. All from me Without me - Nothing. Vote for this poem |
