When Skies Are Blue - A Poem for JessicaEvery time you smile, you brighten up my day. When the sun begins to shine, children gather round to play. They sing songs together and play patter-cake with their hands, as you build your imaginary castles in the sands. The weeping willow trees sway from a gentle breeze. Boys play football with tin cans, as a group of girls band together, to spread a blend of cruel words and lies; they hurt you deeply and try to be wise. Wounds run deep, words hurt you as you weep your salty tears, dry your eyes and wipe away your fears. When skies are blue, when you are feeling down, smile and walk away, tell your tormentors that you are here to stay. Every time you smile, you brighten up my day. When the sun begins to shine, I can see the way you suffer and my heart begins to flutter. The willow trees still weep, and the wind blows gently still. Show those bullies in the playground that you have a much stronger will. When skies are blue, and the day is bright, stand your ground, but never turn and fight. Just smile and walk away. Even if they taunt you. You know that you are special, so do not let the bullies haunt you. For Jessica. Keep smiling and be brave. 27/06/03 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
