Musings by The Poet Loriet
Gas or Electric?
"Do you have a gas stove?,"
he yells up the stairs at her.
She laughs wildly.
If she had a gas stove,
it would be turned on
and her head would be in it
because her nerves are raw.
Does she have a gas stove?
"No," she replies quietly,
"Nothing edible is ever
served here."
(What a silly question!)
She scrubs mould off her shirt
and keeps clawing at her dirt walls
trying to dig herself out
of a deep hole.
It makes her very uncomfortable
to have a mole infestation here,
draining her only source
of power.
