My Sanity and Insanity
The Hurt
She woke up at 6, to head to work,
She tries everyday to forget the hurt,
The hurt that she feels all day long,
But it's the hurt that makes this woman strong.
She thinks and thinks, among other things,
Of what he did to her, and the pain he brings,
She's gotta' leave, she knows she can,
But at the same time, she thinks she loves this man.
She comes home from work, and a long day of thought,
It was just last night, that they last fought,
He slaps her face, he's drunk again,
And that's when it hits her; she's gotta' leave him.
That night after everything is over and done,
She packs up her things, and decides to run,
She backs the truck out of the driveway dirt,
And leaves him, her life, and all the hurt.
