many sides to Rosey

25,677 poems read

With temptations looming nearby in the drug-ridden neighborhood
Outside the heavy wrought iron fence of a campus, oh not so clean
Drug dealers and drug addicts hung around Orleans Street

Filthy, ridden-down gas station, scene of many shootings,
Friendly neighborhood right there, where people keep on pumpin’ gas
As your blood trailed along, making rivers onto Florida Avenue

Red, white, and blue sirens are common every few minutes
Darting out of nowhere, breaking patterns along the way
As drunken old men watched on from West Virginia Avenue

Thick, revolving bulletproof windows accompanied every store
Where every item were either behind glass, or covered with dust
As we made purchases from leery workers on Eighth Avenue

On-going constructions slowed down traffic for years,
Not to mention all those city buses, and broken-down cars,
Especially those nutty road ragers on New York Avenue
