Musings by The Poet Loriet

Your Laugh

I took pills today
to cure my headache,
told you I wished
the bottle was full.
I meant it,
and you laughed.
I wanted to disappear,
become numb,
every minute lasted
an entire hour.

I relived a lifetime
of pain today
when the walls
came tumbling down.
I wanted to chase
those crumbling walls
with something,
anything to numb me.
And you laughed
at my pain.

It echoed inside
my head like
a bowling ball.
Did it make
you feel powerful,
better than me?
For once, I
wasn't being dramatic.
My pain is real.
Don't mock me!
