The Christmas Gift!

When she was only little
In fact she was 6 years old,
She always wanted a Tiny Tears,
And the thought and dream she did hold!

Every morning she arose
She would whisper to herself,
'Tiny Tears, you will be mine!'
'You'll be no more on the shelf.'

A catalogue was opened on the page!
And there she was, every day
'Tiny Tears' in all her glory,
This doll would make her day!

Time went by and her dream grew large,
Excitement to the fore,
She couldn't wait for Christmas morn,
When she opened the living room door!

Her brothers made their choices,
Everyone made their Christmas list,
But all the little girl ever wanted
Was this doll…her only wish!

So every morn and every night,
On arise and off to bed
She would kiss the page that had the doll,
And these were the words she said;

'Santa's bringing you to me,'
'On Christmas day, this year!'
'Wow, you're going to be my very own baby.'
She couldn't have made it more clear!

So Christmas day dawned at last,
And down the stairs she flew,
Knowing that her gifts were there!
And 'Tiny Tears' was there too!

She opened her little presents,
Eagerly seeking the doll she loved,
But she wasn't there, her 'Tiny Tears,'
Of her little heart she was robbed!

She cried and cried and cried some more,
Her heart was broken in two,
No 'Tiny Tears' for her this day,
She didn't know what to do?

She was left a blackboard and easel,
From Santa that Christmas day!
But it had no chalk, she couldn't draw,
So she had nothing with which to play.

Her father went to the pub,
And brought back a snooker chalk in blue,
She tried her best to write that day,
But the chalk just wouldn't do.

So she scribbled and scribbled and scribbled,
Trying to make it write...
She spent hours on that chalk board,
And this is what she did write;

The Creed, she wrote the prayer out,
She made it so that it was seen,
It was the only thing that she could do.
For this day, she lost her dream!

I see her there in my minds eye,
Broken hearted to say the least,
For a shattered promise off Santa hurt!
And her tears gave no release.

Her siblings got their wishes,
Presents all over the floor,
While the little girl, so sad was she,
She didn't want anything more

Shattered dreams, broken promises,
Where the menu for her day,
This little girl, with a broken heart,
Her tears she could not stay.

Her parents were not bothered,
For all they said to her...
Was that Santa had no 'Tiny Tears' left,
But she didn't understand, for it wasn't clear!

She saw it in that book on the table,
Every single day each week,
Her mother said there were none left,
And no solace could she seek!

Deflated, sad and so alone,
She at 6 years of age and so frail
Was once again a nonentity!
With a sad looking face, and so pale!

The woman looks on back to that day,
For it's vivid in her mind
She sees the child that is her,
And no comprehension can she find.

A promise made, a promise broken,
A broken heart and shattered dream
A child in anguish and pain,
A child who knows promises aren't what they seem.

So on she went through her life,
Never expecting what she asked for,
Because just like then, at 6 years old,
She really knew the score.

She wasn't important like the boys,
She wasn't worth the trouble,
She wasn't happy, no not at all,
She wasn't for they'd burst her bubble.

The bubble burst, and so did her trust,
In Santa Claus that day!
Not knowing it was her parents
Who bought the gifts for that special day!

But as she grew older,
'Tiny Tears' and her dream always on her mind,
It's an episode so upsetting to her,
And sadness and unfairness is all she can find.

For knowing it wasn't Santa at all
Who let her down that morn!
It was, after all, her parents,
Who cared not for the child so forlorn!

So shattered dreams, broken promise,
Were the normality of her tender years,
So all through 'HER' children's lifetime,
She made sure everything they wanted was theirs!

For The Child That Was She...

For She Is No More...
