Musings by The Poet Loriet

Fighting Spirit

I'm very depressed right now.
God, help me get back my
fighting spirit.
I need to be able to
keep my children in the
only home they've ever known.
To do that, I need to fight.

I need to fight for my
daughter's disability.
I need to fight to make
my ex get a job and
pay child support on
a regular basis, not
on his whim.

God, be with me in court
when I face my demons.
Be with me and give me
the energy and insight
to fight creditors and
government agencies.

Please help me, God.
Let me know someone cares.
They say you forgive.
They say you love
even sinners.

You know who I am.
You know what's in my heart.
There's a good person
who cares a lot about others
buried under this mountain
of hurt and pain.

Please help me, God.
I don't deserve it,
but my children do.
Help me to be there
for my children
who still trust and love
with their whole hearts.
Give them a chance.

Please. God.
Don't let them
be like me.
It's too late
for me.

They are my hope.
They are my prayer.
And I'm not strong enough
to do it on my own.
