The Proposal
The canal reflected pale moonlight
As hand in hand we walked that night.
The air was balmy, the softest breeze
Stirred the leaves upon the trees.
We wandered down St Marks` Square
And while we were standing there
The buildings softly all aglow
Showed water spouts begin to flow.
Venice and the stars above
Knew that we were so in love.
You picked me up and waded through
I giggled and you giggled too.
When we reached the drier land
You put me down and took my hand.
Then on bended knee you said
Oh my darling can we wed.
In tears I said I love you too
And yes my dear I`ll marry you.
As you kissed me, all around
The people cheered oh what a sound.
Thank you darling I love you so
These memories now will never go
Sometimes there will be stormy weather
But we will always be together.
