Musings by The Poet Loriet

Five Dollar Fool

The bartender took the note
on the five dollar bill.
It took all her nerve
to pay the price,
take the initiative.

It only threw him
off balance for a second,
a monetary distraction.

Then he regained his
composure, made
proper change and
poured the wine
without flinching.
