Smitten by a bolt
that came from the sky
Centered within me
that is my inner eye
A treasure I covet
yet, knows she does not
Thinking of me as a brother
all feelings are lost
The years they do travel
but, feeling they remain amiss
Within life's background
like a large balled up fist
Bringing back sorrows
that water the ground
Watching her misery
with a stand offish frown
We can not live the life
of someone we love
We can only pray
for happiness from above
For when pathways are closed
the door is always locked
And those crossroads dead-ends
where some people are lost
So look back on time
where youth seemed so free
Remembering old friends
who may no longer be
And as we look back
a smile may begin
Finding all of those gifts
that were given by friends
And then all your wisdom
will spring forth anew
Compassion for knowledge
in the cake walk of truth
