Go Forward
Skin as clear as china white
Eyes of Disney blue.
Held you in my arms so tight
Oh so proud of you.
Later curls cascading down
Upon your baby brow.
Dancing on your tip toes
Naturally, somehow.
Coming into teenage years
Emotions running high.
Joy and pain and hurt again
You kissed those years goodbye.
Then into your twenties
Beauty shining through
A woman now, teen years gone
But good and kind and true.
Now my daughter, thirty-one
My memories linger on.
And you mean as much to me
As all those years long gone.
Go forward child with head held high
Make this a brand new start.
Remember, take my love with you
As you did at the start.
Have a happy day today
And make your dreams come true
God gave you life, I give you love
The rest is up to you.
