Some men have shiny new shoes
Some men have fancy cowboy boots
Some men have no shoes
I got me a good pair of walking shoes
I been from here to there and back again
I been to China
I been around the horn
I been up
I been down

My pockets might be empty but my shoes keep walking
I done all kinds of hard, yes damn hard work
These shoes done dug ditches
These shoes done climbed tall buildings
These shoes worked on ships
These shoes worked on trains
Yea, and these shoes done rode on the same trains

They have crossed many a bridge
They have walked many a road
They have jumped many a fence
They have oh yes they have

I would never trade these shoes for anything
They are all I own
They are me
All of me
Me...
