The rain falls upon the earth,
Causing the seed to give birth;
It sprouts up through the ground,
Very quietly and without a sound;
A bird circles as he flies overhead,
Seeing an enemy that he has dread;
A cat watches as he looks upward,
Wishing the bird would come downward;
The bird spots a very high tree,
So does the cat happen to see;
The bird perches himself at the peak,
As the cat began to crawl and sneak;
Up the trunk the cat begins to ascend,
Goal was for food rather than to befriend;
Closer and closer the cat drew near,
But the bird was on guard with fear;
There was no wind as the bird went,
A swipe of a claw didn't make a dent;
The cat is sadden for missing his prey,
But knows there will be another day.
