Musings by The Poet Loriet

how do you say uh-oh in spanish?

a weekend project
shampooing carpets
folks over helping
telling jokes
whistling
while we worked.

ten year old girl
my daughter
doing anything
and everything
she can dream of
to get out of work.

she comes out
of my bedroom
and is showing
my dad something
a bottle
and I think
nothing of it
until she reads
questioningly.

spanish fly.
made of only
the finest
ingredients.

my dad
grey haired
looking at me
over his glasses
half stern
half amused.

I was proud
of my reaction
calmly walking
to my daughter
taking the bottle
swiftly
throwing it out
that's garbage
honey.

and i turned
on my heel
walked the other way
and concentrated
on nice slow
even breaths
to stop
the laughter
from coming.

oh yeah
i was a cool kitty
no sweat
senorita.
