 Taken

I have killed, I have taken another's life
In the early hours of the morning
A rabbit was blinded by my lights
It stared at me motionless
Its mind in a panic, Its mind in a plight
Then it dashed in front of me as it took fright

Now I did swerve and I did brake
For the last thing on this earth a life I'd want to take
The rabbit took a gamble the wrong move it did make
For it ran onto the road and thus sealed its fate.

Now there is a lesson to be learnt
A lesson for us all
You can show the hand of kindness to others
And with the same hand take the life of something that is so small.
