Small steps

three steps forward
two steps back
a meandering type of progress
along life's track.
quick steps slow steps
they all add up the same
a relentless rate of progress
through life's game
it doesn't really matter
what steps you take
and it doesn't really matter
what route you take
marching straight forward
or taking the odd bend
they all add up to small steps
nearer to the end.
