 God's Love Through Poetry

My Chosen Sacrifice

I had a voice but did not speak
with heaven and earth under my feet
angels could have been called down
but rusty nails scared sin's defeat.

I was hungry but noone knew
compassion everywhere I spread
but a crown of thorns was
thrust deep within my head.

Forty stripes where given as
my innocence paid the price of sin
I hung there dying yet was
mocked and scorned by men.

In an unused grave they came
then I was prepared and laid
the only one now empty
so the world could be saved.
