Changing a behavior from the outside in
Found myself failing again and again
An addictive behavior does not stand alone
It masks a weed from a hurt seed it was sown
The seed has grown mighty stabbing with pain
The heart of the forest drowning in rain
First stop the rain..look at the weed
Extract it..reach deeper, then pull out the seed

About the poem: I have found that addictions
don't just happen. They are a means to escape
from some issue we secretly hide from even
ourselves. To just quit the addiction without
healing the underlying source, may result in
another addiction to mask the now surfacing pain.
Psalm 30:2 "OH LORD MY GOD, I CRIED
UNTO THEE AND YOU HAVE HEALED ME."
