I look gazing out through the windowpane,
Such a wonderful life that I do sustain;
I think about how thankful that I been,
Of times of sadness and when I grin;
I am thankful for the birds flying overhead,
And a pillow as I rest that sets on my bed;
I am thankful for the fish in the sea,
That makes a nourishing meal for me;
I am thankful for having two good eyes,
That I can see such a beautiful sunrise;
I am thankful for two good ears that hear,
When a scary sound that I should fear;
I am thankful for my fingers on my hand,
And my hands and feet that let me stand;
I am thankful for a mouth so I can speak,
So I am able to ask for what I truly seek;
But who do I have to thank for my life,
Especially thankful for my wonderful wife;
It is God that deserves the commendation,
For becoming my life's foundation;
