We've dwelled here for many generations,
Even before the mountain transformations;
You are our God and had formed the earth,
And you brought us up since our birth;
But destruction is the way that man turned,
Much of your creation has been burned;
You have called out to the children of men,
Asking us to return both now and also then;
For a thousand years we were in your sight,
But it has past and as a watch in the night;
You carry them off in a flood as they sleep,
Giving them no opportunity to even weep;
The grass flourishes and grows in the morn,
But is cut down in the evening without warn;
Your anger consumes as we feel your wrath,
For we have strayed far from your path;
You have laid out our iniquities before me,
Our secret sins in the light so I can see;
Who knows the power when you're enraged,
Bringing on fear when your wrath's engaged.
