the warriors greatest battle

The darkened cluster of the clouds in the sky
Was echoed in the winds so cold and so dry
I had my knees pulled up towards my chest
And worried about tomorrow and the final test
It all began many moons ago
When the winter was here and land was covered in snow
I was a warrior, the best in this world
Well that's what the stories were told
My father was a slave but my mother a queen
The elders took me away not to be seen
I grew up under the guise of a farmer's sun
Until a man in black armour came by one day, and called me his son
When he took of his helm  we had the same face
He told for years he searched for my place
His eyes were sunken and his hair long and grey
He wept at me feet as he told me he had longed for this day
We talked for eternity about my real past
He told my people were dying and i had to come fast
My mother and father, the farming duo
Wept like parents do, and told me to go
Me and my father, travelled across the land
He explained more about my life, and that i would understand
I did understand, on why i was taken away
But i kept my real feelings secret but i swore they would pay
We travelled past mountains, and forests and creatures of the night
And i heard the old spirits that kept out of site
I had grown close to my father in these past weeks
But one night when he came and touched my cheeks
He told me he was dying, and that's why he came
He was the courts warrior and many battles he's slain
But the battle he had now, was new to him
He said he fought battles and overcome sin
He said he thought he was dying cause he heart felt so weird
He told of this pain in his stomach, mind and his heart that he feared
That night we set camp and lit a burning fire
And he said he was angry of his life, that he'd been a sinner and a liar
I asked. 'To who have you sinned and who have lied?'
'To you my son,' he said, 'to you,' and he cried
'There is no battle in this land, no need for you here'
'I just wanted a chance to know you, my son, so precious and dear'
'I needed you with me, as i have no else'
'I have been searching for you forever, please forgive oneself'
He said i could return with him, to his kingdom or go back to mine
I said dad, i love you, just give me sometime
I walked that night to a cliff, and looke out to the west
Under a dark clustered cloud, i pulled my knees to my chest.
