Musings by The Poet Loriet

A Princess' Last Request

A coat of arms-
yours,
surrounding and protecting
as sleep claims me.

You soothe my soul,
wipe my brow,
caress my hair
and let me know
that I belong.

Dear Romeo,
enter my balcony,
steal into my
bedchambers
and unsettle my rest
with your gentle
understated
sleepy
passion.

And for God's sake,
buy me a new mattress.
This one reeks of
rotten peas!
I've been tested
long enough.

Rescue me,
brave night,
from myself
and the agony
of one more night
with no one
to hold.

Rescue me.
Slay my dragons.
Please.
