Australia mate remember
How we used to be ~
Even about forty years ago
Maybe Maybe four times ten and three~
They'v got rid of most of our aussieness
And chucked the best things out~
We are really being tested by so many now
To see if weve lost our clout~
Sure we all are still Australians
But one thing is for sure~
We are fastly losing our identity
As if in some silent creeping war~
So many good old aussie trates
Have or are fading away~
Hard to find anyone at all
That have Australian born great grand parents today~
A lot of our Aussie slang
Has been now termed not so grand~
And since this political correctness
Its a different space and land~
Freedom of speach now is a threat
As someone will have you in court for sure~
Its that old game now spot the aussie mate
Dont get to see a lot around in cities anymore~
Those good times we all used to know
Are all slowly fading away~
For the times are a changing
And more so every day~
If you lied in court sometime
You'd be charged with an offence~
But politicians do it all the time
It all don't make a lot of sense~
They punish and weigh down the worker
Have the low earner really tow the line~
Treat out medical system with contempt
But they'll tell you all is fine~
The way all us Aussies once were
We were known for it all world wide~
Integrity,honesty,hard working and friendliness
As well as high values and pride~
But now I look around and see
That all thats , gone by the way~
No substance in a handshake any more
Can not believe a lot now has to say~
I would go back tomorrow
To a time that I once knew~
When all fair dinkum Aussies were once
The way we were true blue~
But its not the same anymore
And for going back it is too late~
What I would give to here back then
